As well as the regular, open Q+A session this HR Insights seminar will focus on having conversations with employees about their departure and the difficulties that can arise from this. For those who have not attended one of these quarterly events before they are free to attend and are open to anyone with an interest in HR. The sessions are interactive with the aim of encouraging engagement between delegates, so bring a pen and a pad of paper as you'll want to jot things down.

Who is speaking?

Our speaker is experienced employment law specialist Anna Denton-Jones of Refreshing Law Ltd. Anna combines up-to-date theoretical knowledge with a commercial attitude.

Anna Denton-Jones

Anna is a down to earth lawyer with a pragmatic and commercial approach who will help you navigate through any employment law issue as quickly and straightforwardly as possible without costing you the earth.

An experienced trainer with a passion for empowering line managers to handle day to day employment difficulties themselves and a mediator who assists parties to resolve disputes. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

FORMAT

 

8.30am            
Arrive. Drink coffee. Eat cookies. Network or catch up with other attendees.

8.45am            
‘Ask Anna’ – a free employment law surgery. “Come along with those burning questions you don’t want to take to a lawyer for fear of receiving an astronomical bill”.  Anna will field and advise on as many questions as the clock will allow for. 

9.45am            
Main seminar session. Anna will lead a discussion about having conversations with employees about their departure.
This session will focus on the nuts and bolts of having difficult conversations with employees about their leaving the organisation. It will look at section 111A Employment Rights Act 1996 and the ACAS Code of Practice around protected conversations and discuss how this interlinks with other areas of law, including what you must do and what you should avoid doing along with different strategies you might adopt when reaching settlement agreements. Anna Denton-Jones will share tips for saving money and delegates will be able to share their own experiences. This session is ideal for anyone in HR or for line managers who sometimes have to have ‘those’ conversations.

Driving From East
Leave the M4 at junction 33. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit (A4232 - Penarth). After approx. 6 miles branch left and leave the A4232 - signposted Cardiff City Stadium. At the roundabout take the first exit onto Leckwith Road (B4267 - City Centre). Cardiff City Stadium is on the right

Bus Services
There is a regular bus service to the Stadium from Cardiff Central Bus Station. Bus numbers X91 and 95 run throughout the day and evenings past the stadium (Hatfield Road). Please contact bus operator Cardiff Bus for further information on Cardiff Bus Please note that the bus station is situated at Cardiff Central Train Station.


Train Services

Train services run regularly to and from London Paddington, West Wales, and directly to most areas of the UK. Cardiff train station is approximately 2.5 miles from the stadium and bus and taxi services can be found outside the train station. Contact National Rail for further timetable information.
